Diane Birch is absolutely amazing. If you haven't heard of her shame on you! She recently released a covers EP and it is fantastic. What I love about her is she manages to take these classic tracks and completely re-work them. So much you may not recognize them.
I chose to share her cover of Joy Division's Atmosphere. I have also included the original version so you can hear the difference. I love how she took this classic song and made it almost into a gospel revival. I will be posting more of Diane's work, you can count on that.
I like that she choose a completely different route with her cover. Although, I don't like it, mainly because I love the starkness of Joy Division's song. I love the feeling and bareness of their work. To me this song already is mournful and sad and bare and stark. It needs nothing else. I've always felt this was one of my favorite songs of theirs.
